Pat Jenkinson Part 2 -Social life in the early days, Sport - football, hockey, softball. Camping at the waterholes, Line Camps, Regattas

In this podcast, Pat and Sam, in conversation with Lisa Rickert recall the social and sporting life in Newman, including football, golf, hockey and softball. They remember the pre-cursor to the Fortescue Festival and also camping at many of the different water holes. The conversation then turned towards blowing tyres on the road, and the advantage of having the Line Camps to rescue them. Pat also recalls the first Regattas at Sandhill, then the Billabong (Gingianna Pool),

Pat Jenkinson Part 3 - Car Rally, Shooting pigs and Ducks, Fortescue Festival, Fair Go, Coral Bay, Waterpolo

In this podcast, Pat and Sam, together with Lisa Rickert share some memories of the early days in Newman including a car rally. Pat recalls the men going out pig and duck shooting. They all recall the Fortescue Festival, especially the Fair Go festival. And Pat and Sam remember going to Coral Bay for holidays. 
Then Pat and Sam speak quite extensively about the beginnings of water polo in Newman - both  the local teams, and also how they represented Newman on a regional and State level.

In this podcast, Pat Jenkinson describes her arrival in Newman in 1972 and her first impressions of the  town. She describes the facilities that were available in town and her first job at the Newman Pool. She also recalls her house in Trotman Ave and remembers many of her neighbours.

In this podcast, Richard and Margaret Hennessy discuss their roles in education at Newman. Margaret was mainly a stay at home mum, but also did relief teaching in South Newman PS, Richard was Head of Maths at NSHS and describes his role and also the differences between NSHS and a mainstream city school. 

Richard and Margaret Hennessy Part 5 - Being a young Mum, Life after Newman, Concluding thoughts.

In this podcast,  Margaret recalls what it was like to be a young Mum in Newman - a positive experience. Life was a big adventure where you could entertain yourselves both in your social life and in the bush. Richard recalls life after they let in 1995. He started back at Warnbro High School, then made his way Chisholm Catholic College and stayed there for 25 years, eventually becoming Deputy Principal. Their concluding thoughts consist of fond memories and great experiences.

In this podcast, Richard and Margaret Hennessy reminisce about some of the highlights of their stay in Newman, including making many friends and the beauty of the countryside. They outline some of the changes they noted after revisiting recently, especially the arrival of the Dome cafe and the building of the new hospital. They also recall some of the groups they belonged to, including the Catholic Church and Patchwork and cooking groups at the TAFE. Margaret also describes what it was like to be a young mum up there.

In this podcast, Richard and Margaret Hennessy recall how and where their children were schooled. After a long service break and missing out on a transfer back to Perth, they came back to Newman for an extra two years, and found many of their friends had moved on. They described their socialising in Newman and their holiday places. They also  discussed the major influences during their time there and the value of networking.

Shane Markham Part 7 - Les Tutt, Pioneers, NSHS, Friends, Diving, Trampoline, YMCA and Ron Armstrong

In this podcast, Shane Markham  joins Lisa Rickert in sharing some memories of Newman. Shane recalls what a good bloke Les Tutt was. He then talks about his time at Pioneers and also at NSHS. He remembers how so many of his Newman friends are friends for life, and he still keeps up with many of them. Lisa reminds him of his skill on the high diving board at the pool, and he attributes that to his time spent on the trampoline at the YMCA, where he fondly remembers Ron Armstrong and his daughter Cathy.

These include the remote car track behind the muso, living at the pool in summer, hi-jinks after a footy win, the Drive in, the big blast that took the top off the Hill, when the rains came and the river ran, and the wild life that used to come into town.
